Have people ever claimed I’ve stolen their best friend? Yes. Have I ever stolen a best friend? No. To me, that entire statement is really immature. You can not steal friends because stealing is taking something someone else owns, and we do not own people just because we care about them. I see no reason why you should back off. Your best friend wants to be friends with you right? And you want to be friends with her? Then everything else is irrelevant. But I will advice you to make an effort to become friends with her old best friend. Understand that she feels pushed away by a very important person in her life, and like her childhood friend has changed because of you. So try to invite her to parties you may host, ask her to go shopping with you ect… I’m going to asume all 3 of you are girls :) It’s important that she feels invited (and that she is!) and you may gain another friend. However, in my experience, most of the time they don’t want to be friends with you, they just want their old friend back. In that case, there’s nothing else you can or should do that would make things better. It’s your best friend and her old friend’s responsibility to remain friends, not yours. It’s part of life to grow away from your childhood friends. Most people do. I guess just try to support or at least act like you support their friendship. If after all that they’re still not friends, then that means their friendship was probably so weak that something else would have ruined it. That is not your fault. Accepting new people into your world and learning to let people go is part of life. And realizing that is called growing up ;) hope that helped x
Have you ever stolen someone's best friend? I might have. This girl and my best friend have been friends for ages. They've known each other all their lives. And now it's not the same between them, and I dont know if I should back off or something. I'd love to hear if something similar happened to you.
